Steve Barton, who played Raoul, the dashing, romantic lead in the original London and Broadway productions of Andrew Lloyd Webbers Phantom of the Opera, died on July 21 in Bremen, Germany, where he had gone to make a recording. He traveled to the West Coast,where his paintings took on the dreamlike quality that we experience today.
